Heavy Energy
Savannah, GA, 2009

Feel heaviness in the energy of Savannah
From the start
My friend who lived here, writes:
“Can you breathe the energy of that place?
It is very powerful, very heavy. Many spirits are among you there.
Respect them and they will respect you…
Savannah is a force to be reckoned with.
Respect it - especially at night, and take care.
Express love. Express forgiveness for the sins committed on that soil. Express gratitude for the beauty, but recognize
the price which was paid for its creation.
Perhaps visit the cemeteries, but please
respect the residual pain which remains centuries old.
Savannah is a beautiful place for art - poets and painters and all...
if one believes that the most truthful source of inspiration is pain.
You may experience the pain and the beauty.
Please be mindful of how much of each you care to experience.
I hope you do not want to feel Savannah's pain, for it is very deep.
I hope you will take innocent admiration in its beauty.”

I finish the words knowing that I now need to walk
In darkness, lit by an almost full moon
To my car, parked by the cemetery
I feel the pain of this place
It fueled pages of my words already

Night Visitors
I am woken many times during the night
By the energy of the place
I keep my eyes closed but I feel touches
A male voice says “Hi.”
And I respond to him within
Tomorrow night, I’ll cleanse the space
I wanted to see how Savannah would welcome me
She did.
