Mastering Game Rules

He grew up in fields of wheat in Iowa
“I escaped an Evangelical Christian family,”
He loves games
“I like to figure out the rules.
Once I know them
And can follow them, I get bored.
I’m ready for a new set of rules.”

That fascinates me
How his endless board games
Have replaced
The rules of his youth

I realize that I'm doing the same
Playing different games
Mastering the rules
And moving on to the next game

What I still don't know
Is my role in the
Ultimate Game
That we are all playing
Our very special role within.

Jagged Sound
His voice
Is so deep
And crackingly jagged
That anytime
He speaks in the café
Everyone shudders.
